Beauty & Nature: Jeffrey Woods
If you miss observing even one April day in nature - you’ve missed a hundred opportunities to witness the ever-changing beauty this month offers.
Each passing day melts winter’s steely hold and brings new blooms, tender plants, playful animals, chattering birds, sweet fragrances and softer colors - along with that perennial promise of hopefulness.
And ... it all happens just that fast.
Throughout the years, I've discovered April showers not only bring May flowers, but also an unearthly understanding of life and purpose.
While hard to explain - these random "ah-ha" woodland moments are much like a spontaneous belly laugh; a gentle giggle; an unexpected caring embrace or seeing the unusual in the usual for the very first time. Always jaw dropping!
I believe a walk under a tree-lined canopy during an April shower is similar to Yoga or deep meditation in the way it clears mental clutter and clarifies purpose. (FYI: I highly recommend a heaping dose of a rainy April woods every spring.)
Let the rain beat upon your head with silver liquid drops.
Let the rain sing you a lullaby.
The rain makes still pools on the sidewalk.
The rain makes running pools in the gutter.
The rain plays a little sleep-song on our roof at night-- And I love the rain."
~ Langston Hughes, April Rain Song
